RANDOM REMINDER
OVERSIGHT
One of the thousands of theories about how to improve your golf relates to the importance of body heat in achieving maximum performance. There is at least one Christchurch golfer who goes out equipped with a wide range of jerseys—thick, thin, long-sleeved, shortsleeved—and he draws on this selection according to rises and falls in the temperature. This causes no-one any concern. But far up in North Canterbury, one of the finalists in the women's championship had her difficulties with the dress for the day. It was a lovely spring morning when she
rose to tell her children what they could get for their breakfasts and handed out the lunch money before setting off for the course. She was dressed suitably for the spring weather. But when being driven to the course she found that the weather had changed, that there was a cool southerly breeze blowing. So she went home again and put on a warm skirt. She also decided to take the lightweight skirt in case it became warmer later in the day. So off it was to the course again. And when she got there, it had already started to get warm again. Naturally
she decided to change again into her lightweight skirt. By this time her opponent, two caddies and the referee were there, tapping their toes, etc. They were distinctly startled when our heroine rushed out of the women s changing room and said she would have to make a hurried trip back home. It hardly seemed reasonable, until they had it explained to them. In the excitement of the occasion, and the hurry, she had quite forgotten to equip herself with what would, by popular choice, be regarded as the most important item in the whole range of women’s underwear.
