HOTEL FIRE
Five units, four from headquarters and one from Sydenham, attended a small fire in a bedroom at the Excelsior Hotel shortly before 1 a.m. this morning. The fire, which started in some bedding caused minor damage. There was no need to evacuate guests.
Wool mark Task.—The field director of the New Zealand Wool Board (Mr Godfrey Bowen) will speak this evening on the origins of the Woolmark at a meeting of the Clothing Institute. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. in the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association conference room. The public are invited.
