Moth Fires Too Late
(N.Z. Press ' Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. Canterbury farmers' who are lighting large fires at night to attract and destroy porina moths are “leaving it a bit late in the day,” according to the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys). Replying in Parliament today to a question from Mr R. L. G. Talbot (Nat., Ashburton), Mr Taiboys said that moths in flight would have already laid their eggs, and he added: “So it is a bit late in the day and the damage has been done.”
