Parliament’s Diary

A Broadcasting Amendment Bill was introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. Fourteen questions, including an urgent one, were answered by Ministers. A petition from the Greyhound Racing Association asking for totalisator facilities for greyhound races was presented. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) then moved the adjournment of the House to discuss the “letter of intent” sent

by the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) to the director of the International Monetary Fund. This debate was ended by the rising of the House at 5.30 p.m., there being no division. The following measures received a second reading: the Fisheries Amendment Bill, the Gaming Amendment Bill, the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Bill. The House then went into committee to examine the massive Rating Bill.
