Child-Beating

Sir, —“8.P.C.” is quite correct in listing the numbers of happenings which can bring to breaking-point any “normal mum.” However, I just do not agree with childbeating. I feel that whatever happens, one should never beat children. The poor little souls cannot defend themselves, and apart from physical damage, psychological damage may result Any sensible adult, whatever the cause or causes making for this breaking-point, will have himself or herself helped and spare the child. Please, any “breaking” adult, leave the child alone physically, and seek proper help for yourself, and, if necessary, for the child.—Yours, etc., BETHUNE. October 28, 1967.
