FURTHER TALKS

Hospital Bd Merger

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, Oct. 30.

The Government will hold further discussions with all interested parties before making any decision on the possible amalgamatiorr of three smaller hospital boards with the Taranaki Hospital Board. After today’s Cabinet meeting the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) told reporters that the matter had been discussed but no decision made. “There will be no announcement of anything until further discussions have been held,” he said.

The proposed amalgamation concerns the Taranaki, Stratford, Hawera and Patea boards, and has been opposed by residents in the three smaller centres.
