About 60 men joined a .thinning force of more than 100 who decided to stop work on Friday, after proposals for settlement offered by the For•st Service were rejected. Timber supplies to Waipa State Mill, just south of Rotorua. are threatened by the stoppage and the flow of logs for export to Japan is likely to dwindle if it persists. The men, all members of the Timber Workers’ Union, have formed strike commit-
tees. Union members employed!
Iby the Kaingaroa Logging Company, Murupara, today decided unanimously to support the stoppage.
The stoppage concerns the condition of workers’ transport in the large State forest. FIRST STRIKE PAY
