Fischer Out Of Chess

The American, R. J. Fischer withdrew from the inter-zonal chess tournament at Sousse after officials refused to change a playingvdate for him. Fischer was leading the tournament before the tenth round on Saturday, An official of the Tunisian Chess Federation said that tournament organisers received a letter from Fischer requesting a change of date for a match scheduled next Tuesday. The organisers refused and Fischer withdrew. Tenth round results were:

Stein (Russia) beat H. Meeting (Brazil); E. Geller (Russia) beat V. Hort (Czechoslovakia): A. Gipslis (Russia) beat Fiicher. by default; M. Miag Marsuren (Mongolia) beat B. Ivkov (Jugoslavia); L. Marczay (Hungary) drew with M Matulovic (Jugoslavia).
The following games were adjourned: V. Korchnoi sia) v. B. Larsen (Denmark), L. Portisch (Hungary) v. A. Mat■novic (Jugoslavia).
