Explosion On U.S. Ship

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SAIGON, October 17. A rocket motor exploded aboard a United States aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin last night and wounded nine sailors, one critically, the Navy reported today. The Navy did not identify the carrier, but it was learned from other sources that the explosion was aboard the Coral Sea, one of three carriers on “Yankee Station” in the Gulf of Tonkin, from where strikes are launched against North Vietnam.
