Victoria Cross

(N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) CANBERRA, Oct 16. An Australian Army major killed in Vietnam early this year had been awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry, the Prime Minister, Mr Harold Holt announced today. The award is the second made to an Australian in Vietnam. The first to Warrant Officer Kevin Wheatly, also was posthumous. The latest Victoria Cross has been won by Major P. J. Badcoe, a member of the Australian Army team. He was one of two officers killed during operations in Thua Thien province last April.
