DIVORCE IN ITALY
Delay Tactics Thwarted (N Z.P A -Reuter —Copyright) ROME, October 13. The Italian Parliament’s justice committee yesterday thwarted an attempt by the ruling Christian Democrats to delay discussion of a divorce bill which threatens to provoke a serious ChurchState crisis. The committee voted 24 to 17 against a Christian Democrat motion questioning the bill’s legality and decided to discuss it immediately and consider its legality afterwards.
The bill, presented by a Socialist deputy, Mr Loris Fortuna, seeks to allow divorce in Italy after five years desertion and in certain other cases.
