LAKE PROJECT.—Mr T. G. Maxwell, chairman of the recreational committee in the Scargili-Motunau district, which has under consideration a plan for damming a creek to provide a lake for recreational and other purposes, looks over country which could be inundated. The prospect is for a lake of some 30 to 40 acres behind a 30ft high dam.
