FARMERS PROTEST
French Trains Delayed (N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LIMOGES (France), Oct., 13. French farmers, angry with the Government, yesterday blocked Paris-bound express trains with a bonfire on the tracks and waved protest leaflets under the noses of thousands of motorists delayed by roadblocks. Traffic on the main railway line between Limoges and Paris was restored in the afternoon after about 400 farmers lit a fire in the middle of the tracks near Celon, north of Limoges. Trains in both directions were held up for several hours and later slowed down on the slightly damaged tracks after the farmers withdrew.
The farmers claim they are not sharing in the general rise in the standard of living. They want more Government help and higher meat prices when new Common Market rates are introduced next year.
