CONTAINER ENTRY

Change In Procedure <N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Oct. 11. The Minister of Customs (Mr Shelton) announced today that Orders in Council designed to facilitate the entry of bulk containers and ancillary equipment used in international container transport had been made. Mr Shelton said the normal procedure of requiring duty and sales tax to be secured by cash deposit or some other approved security such as a bond to cover duty and sales tax was being replaced hy a form of covenant.

This was being done by amending the Customs Tariff and the Sales Tax Exemption Schedule, he said. The Minister said this amendment should go along way towards facilitating the flow of bulk containers when container shipping became a regular feature of overseas trade.
