Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Plentiful supplies of most vegetables created a large sale at Christchurch produce markets yesterday.
Salad ingredients, lettuces, cucumbers and tomatoes were again available. Local lettuces sold from 20c to $1.20 a case and Nelson supplies from 70c to •1.75 a case. Tomatoes were available at prices to 55c a pound and cucumbers from 63c to $1.20 a box. Other prices supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers* Association were:— Silverbeeti—2oc to 75c a case Beetroot.—2sc to ,65c a case Pumpkins.—To $l6 a sack. Cabbages.—3oc to 80c a case. Carrots.—To $3.60 a case. Cauliflowers.—3oc to 90c a case. Onions.—sl.2o to 11.50 a sugar bag. Parsnips.—Boc to $1.40 a case. Swedes.—Bl.4o a sugar bag. Potatoes.—B2 to $2.40 a sugar bag. Spring Onions.—To 81.30 a dozen bunches. Radishes.—3oc to 70c a dozen bunches. Parsley.—4c a bunch. Leeks.—«oc to 81 a case. Celery.—Bl.2o to 82 a case. Spinach.—sl tn 81.50 a case. Rhubarb.—TO $1.50 a case. Buttercup Pumpkins. —To $lO a sack. Grapefruit.—To $3.75 a case. Tamarillos.—s2.7s to 83.70 a case.
