‘Price Off' Offers Not Popular

During the settling down period with decimal currency, manufacturers have been withholding “price off” offers. These offers are now reappearing and are not particularly popular in the grocery trade, at either wholesale or retail lewis.

If not properly controlled by the manufacturer, marked stock becomes redundant and creates a poor image to the public, especially when the

price alters, which is often. Grocery marketing is still very keen in Christchurch and housewives have excellent weekly special prices to choose from. Many offers perhaps are the keenest in New Zealand.

Chow Mein.—Crest Foods, Ltd, is adding a new line to the Vesta range. This is chow mein which is the second fastest seller on the United Kingdom market where Vesta accounts for 95 per cent. The chow mein will be available in two sizes, one and two-serve packets, and is ready now.

Asparagus Spaars.—According to an Auckland report, it appears that stocks of canned Asparagus are in short supply This also is apparent in Christ church which is not unusual at this time North Island canners shpuld be starting to can asparagus and it should not be long before fresh stocks are available.
