MELBOURNE B.H.P. dominated interest yesterday. Shares opened actively with sales up to 1530. but slumped sharply to 1470 after a report that coring in Dolphin A.l well had been discontinued. Later, however, buyers pushed the price up to close at steady 1505 c. Minings resumed their upward trend with solid gains in some leaders. However, most closed below their day’s best and Western Mining dropped 40c to 2650 c. Oils were steady. Oil Search was down 5c to 39c.
Industrials generally were steady with rises shading falls.
