No Decisions At Wool Talks
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, October 11.
The Cabinet Wool Committee and
officials of the Wool Commission met in Parliament Buildings this afternoon to discuss the wool situation and the activities of the Wool Commission.
Among those attending the meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall), was the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand).
Mr Holyoake told reporters after the meeting that the sale of part of the present huge stockpile of wool by private treaty had not been discussed at the meeting.
The Wool Commission had received no firm offers from anyone to buy wool privately, he said. Asked if the question of further adjusting the floor price for wool was discussed, Mr Holyoake said that every possibility had been discussed but this was not a meeting for making any decisions. Mr Holyoake said that the Wool Commission had not made any recommendation
that the present floor price or the present procedure for selling wool should be changed.
