Ninety-four horses are left In the Caulfield Cup, which will he run on October 21 and only 38 are qualified to start. Final acceptances will he declared next Tuesday and if necessary the field will be pruned by ballot on Thursday to the safety limit of 20. In addition to the 38 qualified entrants, five horses are on the verge of earning a start
The New Zealand-bred galloper Ziema. which was second in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in 1965, is unlikely to qualify for a start unless he wins the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday.
