NEW MATRON NAMED

Miss E. E. Harrison, a member of the staff of Christchurch Hospital, has been appointed matron of St George’s Private Hospital. Miss Harrison graduated from the Christchurch Nurses’ Training School in 1944 and later qualified as a maternity nurse in Auckland. She gained a post-graduate diploma in administration in Wellington and a midwifery certificate in England. For five years Miss Hartl-

son was sister-in-charge of ward 10 at Christchurch Hospital. She has been a tutor sister in Christchurch, Blenheim and Zanzibar hospitals and was deputy-matron at Wairau Hospital for five years.

Miss Harrison will begin duty at St George’s Hospital in mid-November, succeeding Mrs G. V. Goodwin. Mrs Goodwin, who has been matron for five years, will retire on November 20. She plans to visit South Africa.
