BRAWL IN U.S.

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 9.

About 500 youths ran amuck in a San Francisco beachside amusement park last night, attacking people, robbing, breaking windows and snatching purses, police said.

As police herded the boys and young men on buses ehaded back to the central part of the city, minor skirmishes broke out in other districts. Police said the groups were racially mixed. In the two-hour melee at Playland, police estimated $2700 worth of windows were broken and $2OOO to $4OOO in cash was stolen. The trouble started with a fight in the park between two youths. It grew into a full-scale brawl, officers said. Police were uncertain how many arrests were made.
