THEFT FROM GARAGE
Cash Register Recovered
A cash register valued at S5OO was recovered from a river near Tai Tapu by policemen on Tuesday. The 823 which had been in the cash register was missing. The cash register, as well as petrol vouchers, oil, tyres, cigarettes of a total value of 869.90, was taken from the service station of Otahuna Motors, Tai Tapu. when the premises were burgled on Monday night. A concrete mixer and a wheelbarrow valued at $lOO were stolen from a building site in Locarno Street on the same night. Clothes valued at $29 and a wristwatch were taken from a house in St Asaph Street when it was entered between 12.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Monday, and a re-cord-player valued at $6O was taken when a house in Selwyn Street was broken into on the same day. Property valued at $35 was taken from an unlocked car parked in New Brighton on Saturday, and a power drill valued at $24 was stolen from a house in Yaldhurst Road between September 1 and September 18. The nurses’ home at Calvary Private Hospital was broken into on Friday night and $4O was stolen.
A portable radio was stolen from the kitchen of a boardinghouse in Wilsons Road on September 15.
