SYDNEY

The Bank of New South Wales stood out on a quiet but firm stock market. The $2 shares put on 16c to close at 620 c. B.H.P. remained unchanged at 1280 c although the shares at one stage were selling down to as low as 1255 c. Mount Isa put on 9c to 396 c. The all ordinary index gained 0.63 to 406.17 while group 19, the all ordinary index excluding mining, fell 0.03 to 351.13.
