MOVE TO CHCH

Aust. Tennis Player

B. Leech, the 30-year-old former Sydney taxi-driver who had considerable success on the New Zealand tennis circuit last season, will live in Christchurch

He won the men's singles and doubles and the mixed doubles events at the Canterbury association’s Easter tournament and then hitch-hiked his way down the South Island. A fortnight ago he returned to Christchurch but 'as yet has not decided which |club he will join. i Although he did not meet all the top Canterbury men at the Easter tournament, he is likely to be too strong for all except possibly the No. 1 J. Mitchell.

After arriving in New Zealand last Christmas with another Australian, R. Rheinberger. Leech travelled round the North Island where his most notable performance was to take a set off the New Zealand men's singles champion, M. A. Cox (Britain) in the third round of the nationals in Wellington.

In addition he won the [men's singles title at the North Shore, Taranaki, Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay championshi s.

An unusual feature of his game is that he uses a child's racket, which is much lighter and smaller than the normal adults one.
