Upset In Snooker

An Australian who moved from Sydney to Mangere East four years ago. J. Ahern (South Auckland), confounded all predictions by beating the defend ing champion, L. Napper (Otago*, on the second day of the national snooker championship last evening. Ahern, who played in his first national tournament two years ago, beat Napper, 47-35, 15-56, 57-35, 55-36.
The two-llfers now remaining are R. Flutey, Ahern, B. Clapham, T. Wong, J. Feeney and W. Cullen. Results:
J. Ahern (South Auckland) beat L. Napper (Otago), 47-35, 15-56, 57-35, 55-36; J. Feeney (Auckland) beat J. Walker (North Otago), 30-61, 52-54. 74-36, 75-35, 93-4; W. Cullen (Auckland) beat D. Kelly (Tara naki), 11-49, 46-21, 56-44. 63-44; B. Clapham (Auckland) beat S. Moses (Wellington), 30-57, 60-43. 72-23, 80-16; Feeney beat W. Rahul (Northland), by default: T Wong (Auckland) beat Rahul. 64-44, 60-28, 52-64. 35-50, 48-43. Flutev beat W. Harcourt (Wellington), 59-20, 62-55, 47-39.
