Scout Jamboree

A choice of 24 separate activity camps including cardriving and mechanic-train-ing at a motor-racing circuit, a survival course in the back blocks of North Canterbury, deep-sea fishing on fishing trawlers, and rifle and claybird shooting will be available to venturer scouts attending the fifth national jamboree in Christchurch in January, 1969 An introductory brochure describing the jamboree programme is now being sent to all scout troops in New Zealand and to troops in selected overseas countries.

The jamboree will provide different programmes for venturers (senior scouts) and scouts.

The scouts’ programme will! include instruction in horse riding, archery, and Maori culture. The boys’ skill will be tested by a commando course. A number of displays will include slot-car racing, police dog work, and the flying of model aeroplanes. The boys will also be entertained by pop singers and bands.
