‘Gold In Corset’

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 19.

Bulges under a businessman’s tight corset were a bounty of hijacked gold, a court was told today. Police who peeled off the garment found it hid bullion worth £lO,OO0 —part proceeds of the May 1 daylight hold-up of a Rothschild Bank van, the prosecutor, Mr David Hopkins claimed.

Ivor Bloom, a 39-year-old furniture dealer, appeared with three alleged accomplices in a smuggling ring helping to get the £750,000 gold haul out of Britain. The others are the England former speedway motor-cycle team captain, Squire “Split” Waterman, aged 44, his fiancee, Avril -Priston, aged 38, and a company director, Michael Kenrick. i
