ONE-WAY STREETS

Change Likely Within Year St. Asaph Street and Lichfield Street could become oneway streets as soon as signs could be made, the City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) said at the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce last evening. He said that although he had some reservations about it he thought it likely that they would become one-way streets before the “greenwave” system of traffic signals was installed. To Mr R. C. Wallace Mr Scoular said the “greenwave” system could be installed in 12 months if the council’s approval were given immediately, and if the money were available. Mr Scoular addressed the council for 45 minutes and illustrated aspects of the proposed development with colour slides.
