Spring Blossom

Almost every week, somewhere in the world, some city in some country is having a blossom festival. Perhaps because Christchurch is not one of these cities its citizens are inclined to overlook the glories of the Christchurch spring. Because the recent winter was more mild than usual, some of the blossoms are even finer than in ’he past.

First came the whites and pale pinks of the early prunus, and these are now past their best. Now we are experiencing the pinks of the almonds and the whites and pinks of the cherries and apples. Christchurch is never without flowers during the year, even on foggy flats. But in spring-time it really excells itself.
