YEARLINGS to show speed in sprints for two-year-olds at the Grand National meeting. In the top photograph are Te Weka (No. 4) and her stablemate, a chestnut filly by Jekyll from All’s Fair, which appeared in the fillies’ division last Saturn day. Te Weka (JekyllHunting Melody) finished second to Mr K. M. Bladen's Freelight-Vallus filly, Dolly Varden, which will do her racing from P. H. Jones’s Riccarton stable. In the lower photograph is the unnamed brown colt by Eastern Nip from Lucky Princess, owned by Mr M. C. Watson and also in the Jones stable. This youngster won the sprint for colts and geldings on Grand National Hurdles day.
