Essex Butcher Fined £75

LONDON, August 16.
An Essex butcher was fined £75 last week when he pleaded guilty in the East Ham Magistrate’s Court to receiving New Zealand lamb carcases stolen from the New Zealand Shipping Company. Arrests were made of the butcher and two lorry drivers after Port of London Authority police had followed a lorry from the Royal Albert dock to the butcher’s premises on August 9.
The premises were watched until 10 p.m. when another lorry arrived and 76 carcases of lamb were transferred. The three men were then arrested. The driver who pleaded guilty to stealing the carcases, valued at £228, was fined £75, and another driver who pleaded guilty to receiving stolen carcases was fined £5O.
