KUMERAS SOLD

None Left For South

“Th« Prete" Special Service

AUCKLAND, August 16. Mr G. A. Bruce, the Awakino Point farmer who set out for Christchurch on a tractor with a trailer-load of kumeras, is home after what he describes as a successful venture.

Mr Bruce arrived in Dargaville with a trailer-load of furniture which had been left to him after his mother died in Christchurch.

Mr Bruce originally planned to sell the four tons of kumeras en route and in Christchurch, but found business so brisk along the way that he had sold out by the time he reached Wellington. Although he got away to a bad start when a wheel fen off his trailer at Albany, he had a fairly trouble-free run during the three weeks he was away. He had three punctures but otherwise his tractor and trailer stood up well to the journey.
