$5000 Trip For Horses

Unless there is a further booking in the next 24 hours the cost of getting Terrific and his stablemate. Double Fault, a maiden three-year-old, to Melbourne next week will be $5OOO. This amount is the charter hire of a DC4 aircraft, for which a full load is six horses. It will be paid by Dr. A. McGregor Grant, the owner of Terrific and Double Fault, unless one or more of the other four spaces is taken. Neither M. E. Ritchie, who trains Terrific and Double Fault,- nor Mr R. J. Fielder, a spokesman for Wright, Stephenson and Company, which is arranging the flight, expected today that the. remaining four spaces would be filled. '
“Any applications would have to be made tomorrow,” said Mr Fielder. "The horses would have to be cleared by Customs no later than Frit day.”
