Woollen Goods
Sir, —I came to this country 13 years ago and have since loyally tried to buy New Zea-land-made goods—suffering some staggering disappointments in manufactured articles. The worst of these have been in the line of jumpers, cardigans, etc. As I spend at least nine months
of the year in woollies I now have quite a remarkable collection of shoddy and very expensive garments, irradiated only by presents from home, which outlast the native variety three times, and cost half the price. I have just sent my son, who is temporarily in England, a cheque on my English bank for £3, and told him to get himself a decent woolly garment of some sort before returning here. The last one which I bought his father in Christchurch neither of us considered appropriate to his age and background; it cost me more than £7. New Zealand woollen mills association, please note.— Yours, etc..
