Sir,—The published figures show the “majority for Reweti” as 1991. Mr Reweti (Labour) polled 4299 votes. Taking the votes not cast for Labour as a vote against Labour, the adverse votes were: National 2308, Social Credit 1169, Independent 654, Independent Labour 234; total 4365. On these figures, Mr Reweti has been elected on a deficiency of 76—not a majority of 1991.—Yours, etc., BY THE WAYSIDE.

Mr Tatene is 19, and his hobbies are literature and travel. Miss Kato (20) and Miss Yaegashi (22), intend to visit New Zealand.
