Casing Set In Halibut A-1

Casing has been set to 8624 ft in the Halibut A-l oil well, . .42 miles off shore from Bairnsdale, Victoria, In the Gippsland Shelf basin. This was announced yesterday by directors of the Broken HUI Proprietary Company, Ltd., . on advice received from the Hematite Petroleum Pty, Ltd, and Esso Standard OU (Australia) Ltd.

The 9 Min casing was run and cemented without difficulty in spite of strong winds and heavy seas last week. Preparations are being made to drill ahead.
