WAINONI BUSES
Extended Service The Christchurch Transport Board will run the Wainoni bus service every 20 minutes instead of 25 minutes and extend it to the intersection of Niven street and Avondale road. The Wainoni service will be disconnected from the Wharenui route which will be coupled with the Burwood I hospital route. The board decided this yesterday after considering a letter from the Avondale Residents' Association asking about the possibility of service to Avondale. The association suggested that a route be along Wainoni road and return via Breezes road along Avondale road then to Wainoni by New Brighton road. The general manager (Mr J. F. Fardell) said the association has also asked to have buses travelling along Avonside drive.
“The ’ greatest pity is that there is no bridge across the river at Mcßratneys road,” he said. “It is evident that no bridge will be put across the river at this point for some considerable time,”
