The British Minister of State for Overseas Trade (Mr G. Darling) will attend a luncheon given by the councils of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association and the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce on August 25 in the Horticultural Hall. Mr R. A. E. Upston was last evening appointed Acting Town Clerk by the Riccarton Borough Council during the illness of the Town Clerk (Mr R. Sarjeant). Mr Upston is borough engineer.
