Snub won by a length, with the New Zealand-bred seven-year-old Future a similar di* tance away third. Basin Street, a Blueskin H —Astrophelia five-year-oM, was resuming after a spell and' it was assumed the di* tance Would be too short for W HR had earlier won his previous two starts over a mile at Caulfield and 10 furlongs at Flemington.
