Banagh pulled vary hard early and waa allowed to tak* th* lead three furlongs from home. He was under pressure at the furlong and first Deep Blue and then Lady Wild mastered him. Deep Blue won by a head. Whakamoa, which has campaigned extensively in recent weeks, easily won the first log, the Springvale Handicap. He shared the lead with Kai. moi Star until the three furlongs, sprinted ahead at the home turn, and eventually won
