Edgeware Winter Inter-Club Competition

Winner of both the senior mens' and senior women’s summer tennis competition, Edgeware yesterday added the winter competition also to Its 1967 honours. Edgeware played a strong side throughout and was In a commanding position even before It beat North Linwood in the final round at Wilding Park yesterday without the loss of a match. Opawa I, which beat Shirley yesterday by 4 matches to 2, finished second. The points were: Edgeware 104, Opawa I 80, Avonslde I 73, Onawa II 64, Avonslde II 47, Shirley 37, Beckenham 26, North Linwood 6. Opawa I v. Shirley Mixed Doubles.—H. Hilf and I. Sanders lost to D. Haworth and F. Hughes, 6-1, 2-6, 4-6. Women's Doubles.—Mesdames B. Lee and C. Jackson beat Misses N. Baty and C. Davey, 6-2, 6-2. Mixed Doubles.—Hill and Mrs Lee beat Haworth and Miss Baty, 0-7, beat Hughes and Miss Davey, 0-6; Sanders and Mrs Jackson lost to Haworth and Miss Baty, 7-0, beat Hughes and Miss Davey, 0-4.
