Edgeware Winter Inter-Club Competition
Winner of both the senior mens' and senior women’s summer tennis competition, Edgeware yesterday added the winter competition also to Its 1967 honours. Edgeware played a strong side throughout and was In a commanding position even before It beat North Linwood in the final round at Wilding Park yesterday without the loss of a match. Opawa I, which beat Shirley yesterday by 4 matches to 2, finished second. The points were: Edgeware 104, Opawa I 80, Avonslde I 73, Onawa II 64, Avonslde II 47, Shirley 37, Beckenham 26, North Linwood 6. Opawa I v. Shirley Mixed Doubles.—H. Hilf and I. Sanders lost to D. Haworth and F. Hughes, 6-1, 2-6, 4-6. Women's Doubles.—Mesdames B. Lee and C. Jackson beat Misses N. Baty and C. Davey, 6-2, 6-2. Mixed Doubles.—Hill and Mrs Lee beat Haworth and Miss Baty, 0-7, beat Hughes and Miss Davey, 0-6; Sanders and Mrs Jackson lost to Haworth and Miss Baty, 7-0, beat Hughes and Miss Davey, 0-4. Opawa I won by 4 matches to Beckenham v. Opawa II Men's Doubles.—B. Charlesworth and R. Murphy lost to J. Moseley and A. D. Atkinson, 5- 2-6. Women's Doubles.—Misses E. Price and S. Moore lost to Mrs A. Kite and Miss J. Coombs, 3-6, 3-6. Mixed Doubles.—Charlesworth and Miss Price beat Moseley and Mtss Coombs, 0-3: lost to Atkinson and Mrs Kite, 5-0: Murphy and Miss Moore lost to Moseley and Miss Coombs, 6-9, lost to Atkinson and Mrs Kite, 2-0. j Opawa II won by 5 matches to Edgeware v. North Linwood Men's Doubles.—L. W. Watkins and E. L. Martin beat B. Partridge and L. West, 6-1, 6-1. Women's Doubles.—Misses R. Dillon and J. Habgood beat Misses S. Bruce and V. Wheal, 6- 6-0.
Mixed Doubles.—Watkins and Miss Dillon beat Partridge and Miss Bruce, 0-3, beat West and Miss Wheal, 0-2: Martin and Miss Habgood beat Partridge
and Miss Bruce, 9-2, beat West and Miss Wheal, 9-1. Edgeware won by 6 matches to 0. Avonslde II v. Avonslde I Men's Doubles.—w. Jamieson and R. wilding lost to D. Macdonald and G.. Klnzett. 2-6, 3-6. Women's Doubles.—Misses S. Field and M. Nisbet beat Mesdames D. Macdonald and L. Rlxon, 6-4, 6-4. Mixed Doubles.
