3291 Life line Calls
“The ministry of Life Line has received 3291 calls for help in three years of operation,” said the secretary of tile Life Line committee (Mrs G. Dingwall) in her report to the annual meeting of the board of management of the Methodist Central Mission in Christchurch. “The largest group of callers represent those who have suffered broken marriages and family upheavals. One of the major difficulties comes from people not seeking help soon enough, and it is incumbent on us all, as a community, to help create the atmosphere in which the idea of marriage and family guidance is publicly accepted and not a measure to be taken as a last resort.” She said telephone ministry recorded messages numbered 230,462 between April, 1964, and June, 1967; and Life Line personal help calls between July, 1966, and June, 1967, had been 1367.
