Three Share Golf Lead

The young Australian golfer, R. Stanton, shares the first round lead in the SUSIO2,OOO Western Open with the South African, R Verwey, and the American L Harris.
All three players, each seeking his first tournament victory .on the American circuit shot five-under-par 66s on the tree-lined, 6867-yard Beverly course.
A stroke behind, ait 67, was S. Oppermann, and sharing 68 were J. Boros and the P.G.A. champion, D. January.
Other scores included A. Palmer and J. Nicklaus 72, W. Casper and R. J. Charles 74.
