A LINK WITH EARLY CHRISTCHURCH TO GO.—The banking chamber of the Australia and New Zealand Bank at 85 Hereford street. The 80-year-old building, which was erected for the old Union Bank of Australia, is to be demolished to make way for new premises. The Union Bank was the first established in Canterbury, and it acquired the Hereford street site in 1864. Since 1951, when the Union Rank and the Bank of Australasia merged, the Hereford street building has been a branch of the Australia and New Zealand Bank.
