Badminton Surprise (N.Z., Press Association? WELLINGTON. The New Zealand representative, D. B. Higgins, has caused surprise by not entering the national badminton championships, to be played at New Plymouth on August 29 to September 2. Higgins is the third top New Zealand player to decide not to attend this year’s tournament The others are KLong (Auckland) and L. Bristol (Manawatu).

In their absence, the men’s section of the tournament is one of the weakest in several seasons.

However, the women’s entry is strong. The Inclusion of six internationals make it one of the most open national women’s singles in years.
