FESTIVAL OF MUSIC

Cashmere High School Choral and oicbestral worts were performed by pupils of Cashmere High School at its tenth music festival last evening. The pupils, under the direction of Mt F. E. Dennis, reached a high standard.

Two items by a special girls* choir, “Shepherd’s Song," by Elgar, and Schubert's setting of the 23rd Psalm, were the highlight of the evening. Under the baton of Mias A. M, Thomson, the members of the choir showed excellent voice control and

understanding of part-singing. Another group to display talent was the Pierne Trio, made up of two pupils from the school and one from Shirley Boys’ High School. A diversion from musical items was provided by a fifth-form speaking choir which presented three items, including "The City in the Plains’’ by the Ute Professor Arnold Wall. Other items included three songs in German, brass band arrangements and orchestral music. A large audience attended the festival, which was held in the school hall.
