New C.W.I. Branch

A new branch of the Country Women’s Institute has been formed at Lake Coleridge, it was announced at a recent meeting of the executive committee of the Canterbury C.W.I. Federation, Mrs G. E. MacLachlan presided. Arrangements were made for a school of procedure on July 27. Mrs C. McKenzie presented the script for a radio broadcast, entitled “Lones and Links.” The Canterbury federation will be host to visitors from the Nelson federation on July 26. On August 18, it will challenge the Canterbury East Federation to a debate in the Lincoln Community Centre. The Canterbury federation will have a bay in the Industries Fair. Voluntary organisers for the year are Mesdames G. E. MacLachlan, W. A. Hodgkinson, A. J. Knight, A. B. MacDiarmid and E. J. Melhuish.
