BOXER AND NOVELIST
Mr F. St. Bruno Dead (N.Z. Pres. Auociation) AUCKLAND, July 12. A former national champion boxer and well-known cartoonist and novelist, Mr Frank St Bruno, died In Auckland today after a long illness. He was 57. He came to New Zealand with his parents as a child from Sydney. He was at various times a hobo, cartoonist freelance writer, booth fighter, columnist and sea* man.
His aggressive punching took him to an Auckland amateur and then a national title in 1930. A year later he won both the fly-weight and bantam-weight divisions in the Auckland championship#. Several of the 10 books he wrote were based on his experiences in the sing.
