NEW CAMP BUILDING
Show Grounds Project
Improved camp accommodation at the show grounds of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be ready in about two months. A two-storey concrete block building comprising 16 twinbed units is being built Each unit in the 2100 sq. ft building will contain an electric water-heater, a stainless steel sink and electric points. The building would replace six cabins, which had been moved and would be used as offices during ram fairs, the association’s secretary-mana-ger (Mr H. M. Studholme) said yesterday. It is next to a large, modern amenities, block.
The contractor hoped the block would be finished by September, Mr Studholme said. Charges would probably be a little higher than formerly because of the improved standard of accommodation.
The cost of the new block is about $17,960. In his report to the association’s general committee yesterday, Mr Studholme said the foundations and floor of the building had been poured, and the ground storey walls were almost completed.
