FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation. —A slow-moving depression is centred north-west of Northland, a ridge of high pressure covers central and southern New Zealand. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate southerly winds predominating; cloudy with a few light showers, especially about the coast; remaining cold. Marlborough.—South to south-east winds, mainly moderate but increasing later today to strong in exposed places; mainly fine and cool but cloud increasing later today with some showers in eastern coastal areas. Buller and Westland.—Moderate easterly winds but fresh in exposed places; fine with moderate temperatures this afternoon. Outlook.—All districts: mainly fine.
